WUZAP is a North American based online community for wireless developers.
As you may have heard, the wireless web medium is set to become a Godzilla of sorts, ready to trample all over us smurfs whether we like it or not. With an estimated 75 million web-enabled phones to be sold within the next 12 months (not to mention the countless other web enabled devices like PDAs and pagers), we're looking at a lot of machinery just waiting to be served with useful, relevant, and above all, OPTIMIZED applications and services.
Since the wireless web is so well entrenched throughout the rest of the world, we North American developers are kind of playing catch-up. WUZAP aims to be the one-stop site for news, information, and resources that are critical to the developer (professional, casual) looking to put out really useful stuff on the new wireless medium.
Why WUZAP?
Because we USED to like saying "Wuzaaaaaaaaap!" all the time. Now, we've stopped saying it all the time because it's just plain annoying but the name stuck and it's got the letters W,A, and P in it (which, of course, spells WAP, in case you didn't know).
Because North American developers need a community that has a North American spin on the technology which is quite different than the rest of the wireless development sites out there (mostly European based). Different * (Networks + Standards + Businesses) = (You + Need) * WUZAP (I know my calculus).
